Requirement of Readers on Contract Basis

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Asia's first Space University was established under the Department of Space in September 2007. IIST is presently offering 4-year B.Tech programmes in “Aerospace Engineering” and “Avionics” and a 5- year Masters programme in “Applied Sciences” with more focus on Space Science and Technology.  A   B.Tech. programme in “Physical Sciences” is planned from this year. Classes for the third batch of students will commence from August 2009.

Plans are a foot to start M.Tech., Ph.D. and Post Doctoral Programmes in specific areas of Space Science and Technology. The construction of a sprawling new campus spread over an area of 90 acres at Valiamala near Thiruvananthapuram is progressing well and its first phase is expected to be ready within a few months. The new campus will have state of the art research infrastructure including high performance computing facilities.

IIST provides a vibrant and simulating environment for research works.  There is a strong emphasis on the interdisciplinary and collaborative works in the areas of Aerospace, Avionics, Space Sciences, Basic Sciences and Humanities.  A few research works in the frontier areas of technologies like Nano Science and Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Astrophysics and Simulation Studies in certain Advanced Propulsion Areas have already been initiated. IIST will also have research collaborations and scientific exchanges with reputed National and International academic and research organizations.

Age limit: 35 years for all posts as on 01.05.2009.

Remuneration: Rs. 34,400/- per month (consolidated). Superior performers will be rewarded with performance based incentive admissible up to 15% at the end of each year of contract.
Duration: Two years, but extendable.

Note:

• Should possess first class in B.Sc/ BE/ B.Tech and M.Sc / M.E. / M. Tech
• Only Indian Nationals need apply. Indian Nationals staying abroad can also apply.
• In exceptional circumstances, telephonic interview may be arranged for candidates staying abroad.

General Conditions:

• The institute may offer opportunity to be selected candidates for registering for Ph.D, subject to the fullfillment of eligibility and other conditions.
• The qualification and experience prescribed are minimum requirements and do not automatically make candidates eligible to be called for interview.
• Institute reserves the right not to fill-up all, or any of the posts.
• Age relaxation up to maximum of five years will be awarded for serving academicians in Government Institutions.
