IIST’s Hostels for students and scholars are named after the mythological ‘nakshatras’. These are located in a peaceful part of the IIST campus, with proximity to canteens, cafe, gymnasium and the medical centre.
Built based on contemporary architecture, each of these hostel-blocks has well-ventilated rooms designed to accommodate students on single-occupancy and double-occupancy basis.
Each room in the hostels is furnished with cots, mattresses, study-tables, chairs, wardrobe-cabinets and bookshelves, enabling comfortable stay and study.
Each floor has common washrooms with modern cleaning equipments and sanitation facilities. Hygiene and cleanliness of the rooms, floors and surroundings are taken care of by routine house-keeping services.
Generator-backed power and ample supply of drinking-water are ensured on a 24-hour basis.
WiFi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) is also provisioned in all the hostels, enabling High-Speed Access to the Internet, Digital Library and other Digital Learning Resources.
Daily affairs of the hostels are run by the Hostel Manager, while resident-wardens and security-personnel are available for round-the-clock support in the hostels.
