Vikram A. Sarabhai Trust (VAST)  is an autonomous and financially independent trust established by Dept.of Space (DoS), Government of India (GoI) in 1997, to manage specific social-security aspects of DoS employees.

The trust manages and promotes two welfare schemes, namely : SAFE and VISWAS.

SAFE : “Scheme for Assistance to Families in Exigency” is a voluntary and contributory welfare scheme to provide financial assistance in case of (a) death/disability (b) loss of salary due to prolonged sickness (c) treatment of serious illnessess (d) prolonged hospitalisation (e) loss of eye/limbs etc. for employees of DoS.

VISWAS : “VAST Insurance Scheme Whenever Accident Strikes” is also promoted by the Trust to provide cost-effective insurance scheme for employees of DoS, covering ‘death due to accidents’.

The schemes are open to all serving employees under DoS and its affiliated organisations. Eligibility conditions apply.
