Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology envisions the integration of Space Technology and Space Science educational programmes with basic and applied research for meeting the national R&D requirements of science and technology in general and of the Indian Space Programme in particular. The institute in addition to offering under graduate and post graduate programmes also provides doctoral and post doctoral programmes.

Invitation for Applications for M.Tech Programme – July 2012 (Regular)

Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates for admission to the M.Tech. Programme scheduled to commence in July 2012, in the area of Optical Engineering

Eligibility

• Minimum Qualifications: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering)/M.Sc in Physics or equivalent area with first class. All candidates must have a valid GATE score in the above mentioned relevant area is essential. Those candidates whose results are likely to be declared by 31st July 2012 can also apply.
• Age Limit: Applicant should be below 28 years as on 16th July 2012. Age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PWD) category as per Govt. of India Rules.

Fees (per semester) for M.Tech :

M.Tech Fellowship:

1. The candidates selected for IIST M.Tech. programme will be given a fellowship as per AICTE guidelines.
2. The M.Tech students will be required to assist the Departments in academic activities as and when required.
3. The M.Tech students will have to pay tuition / registration fee and fee for the boarding / lodging / medical facilities etc., as per IIST rules.

All selected M.Tech students will be provided accommodation in the institute campus.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

1. Applications in the prescribed format will be received until 16th July 2012.
2. Candidates will be short-listed based on Academic records and other relevant criteria like GATE Score etc.
3. Selection will be based on a written test / interview in their relevant area.
4. List of short-listed candidates for written test / interview will be displayed in IIST website on 18th July 2012.
5. Written test / Interview will be conducted at IIST, Trivandrum on 31st July 2012.
6. Selected candidates will be intimated within a week of the final interview. Results will also be displayed in this website.
7. Outstation candidates will not be paid any costs by IIST towards travel / boarding / lodging for attending the test / interview.

HOW TO APPLY:

1. Application form can be downloaded from IIST website www.iist.ac.in
2. Duly filled application form along with attested copies of documents mentioned in the application form should be sent to The Administrative Officer , IIST, Valiamala Post, Thiruvananthapuram – 695547 with the superscription “Application for IIST M.Tech. Programme-July 2012”.
3. Application form should be accompanied by a fee of Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- for ST / SC / Women candidates) in the form of Demand Draft dated on or before 16-July-2012 drawn in favour of The Registrar, IIST payable at Thiruvananthapuram.
