Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship

Dr. Palash Kumar Basu, Associate Professor from the Department of Avionics of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology has been awarded the Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship for a period of three years with effect from October 01, 2022. The selection is based on the proposal submitted for carrying out work on the topic “Design and Development of Low Power, Low Cost, High-Performance Gas Sensor Array for Exhale Breath analyzer: A Point-of-Care based Non- Invasive Early Detection and Prognosis of Cardiovascular Diseases”. The selection is in recognition of the outstanding contributions in the field of Nanomaterials based Gas and Bio Sensor as well as contribution in the growth of the engineering profession in the country. The Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship is instituted with the objective of recognizing the importance of translational research by individuals to achieve excellence in engineering, innovation and technology development in India.

Best Paper Award

Mr. Pratik Kadge, former BTech student under the guidance of Dr Rajesh Joseph Abraham won the Best Paper Award for the paper "Integration of Plugged-in Electric Vehicles for Load FRequency Control in Two-area System" in the International Conference on Sustainable Technology and Advanced Computing in Electrical Engineering (ICSTACE 2021) organised by SVNIT, Surat during 11-12 November 2021

AICTE Visvesvaraya Best Teacher Award 2021

Dr. Chinmoy Saha, Associate Professor from the Department of Avionics of the Institute has been bestowed with the National Award "AICTE Visvesvaraya Best Teacher Award 2021". Dr. Saha received the award from Honorable Education minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and Dr. Ranjan Singh (Minister of State for External Affairs and Education on 8th July 2021), on 5th September, 2021 at AICTE Headquarters, Nelson Mandela Marg, New Delhi in presence of Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe , Chairman of AICTE.

Dr. Saha has fundamental research contributions in the area of antennas for multifunctional applications, 5G and CR antennas, metamaterials and applications, antennas for energy harvesting and biomedical applications and wireless power transfer. He has written two books with Cambridge University Press, UK and Taylor and Francis, USA.

Kerala Young Scientist Award 2020 and Chief Minister's Gold Medal.

Dr.R. Sudharshan Kaarthik received Kerala Young Scientist Award 2020 and Chief Minister's Gold Medal.

IEEE Outstanding Reviewer

Dr. Anoop C.S. received "Outstanding Reviewer" Recognition, 2020 from IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement.

Dr. Anoop C.S. and Dr. R. Sudharshan Kaarthik received Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Team Award 2019 for contributions in Advanced Retarding Potential Analyzer for Ionospheric Studies (ARIS), a scientific payload onboard PSLV-C45 PS4 platform.

Dr.R. Sudharshan Kaarthik received Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) Young Engineer Award for Electrical Power Systems Satellites, Electronic Systems and Renewable Energy

Space Science Technology Excellence Certificate (2019)

Dr. Anoop C. S and Dr. R. Sudharshan Kaarthik received Space Science Technology Excellence Certificate from the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology for contributions in the scientific payload of Advanced Retarding Potential Analyser for Ionospheric Studies (ARIS), launched using PSLV-C45 PS4 platform.

Kerala State Young Scientist Awards 2016

Dr. Seena.V, Member of Faculty, Department of Avionics has been selected for Kerala State Young Scientist Awards-2016 by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology & Environment (KSCSTE). This is for her contributions in the area of MEMS and Nanomechanical Sensor systems. The Award will be presented by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala during the inaugural session of the 29th Kerala Science Congress on 28th January 2017 .

The Kerala State Young Scientist Awards are intended to honour talented Young Scientists in recognition of their contributions in any branch of science and technology coming within the purview of the Council. The awardee will be presented with a certificate with citation and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-. The Awardee, within 3 years of the receipt of the award, will be considered for a visit abroad for presenting research work at a conference. In addition, the award recipient may be considered for a research grant of Rs.50 lakhs after due consideration of the research project with the help of an expert committee.

 

 

Innovative Student Projects Award 2016

Project on “Integrated Algorithm for Tracking Using KCF and TLD and its Extensive Evaluation” done by Ms. Kakanuru Sumithra in the Department of Avionics has been selected for conferment of Innovative Student Projects Award 2016 from The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE). The project was done at Virtual Reality lab, under the guidance of Dr. Deepak Mishra, Associate Professor and Dr. Sai S. Gorthi , Associate Professor, Department of Avionics. The Innovative Student Projects Award will be presented in the Award Ceremony to be held during Academy Annual Convention on Dec 8, 2016 at 4 PM at Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad.

 

 

 

IEEE Senior Member

Dr. N.Selvaganesan, Associate professor and Head, Department of Avionics, has been elected to the position of IEEE Senior Member in recognition of professional standing by officers and Board of Directors of the IEEE, USA. IEEE Senior Membership recognizes a professional accomplishment as less than 7% of IEEE Members achieves this recognition. He has served IEEE in various capacities including Technical program committee for various IEEE conferences, delivered key note address, Chief Guest and chaired a session in technical presentations in IEEE conferences.

 

 

Best Student Paper award

A research paper titled "Graph Fourier Transform Based on Directed Laplacian" authored by Rahul Singh, Abhishek Chakraborty, and B. S. Manoj has been awarded the Best Student Paper Award sponsored by Springer at the 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communications 2016 (SPCOM 2016), held during June 12-15, 2016 at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. The award consists of a certificate and a gift voucher for Euro300 that can be used for Springer books.

 

 

Best Paper and Oral Presentation Award

Kishor Dalavi, M.Tech ( RF & Microwave 2013-15 ), Department of Avionics , IIST has received best paper and oral presentation award for the paper titled “ Substrate Integrated Waveguide Slot Array for Millimeter-wave Space Applications” at 6th IEEE International conference on Computers and Devices for Communication ( CODEC-2015). This work was jointly guided by Mr. Apurba Bhattacharya , Space Application Centre, ISRO, Ahmedabad and Dr. Chinmoy Saha, Dr. Basudeb Ghosh , Department of Avionics, IIST.

 

 

IEEE ICNC 2015 Outstanding Leadership Award

IEEE ICNC 2015 awarded Dr. B. S. Manoj, Associate Professor, Avionics Department, the IEEE ICNC 2015 Outstanding Leadership Award for his professional services to IEEE ICNC 2015. ICNC stands for International Conference on Computing, Networking and Communications which is sponsored by IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Communications Society. IEEE ICNC 2015 was held in Anaheim, California during February 16-19, 2015. Dr.B. S. Manoj served as Symposium Co-Chair for the Cognitive Computing and Networking Symposium conducted as part of IEEE ICNC 2015.

IEI Young Engineer Award 2014-2015

Dr. Seena.V, Assistant Professor, Department of Avionics has received IEI Young Engineer Award 2014-2015 from The Institution of Engineers (India) during the 30th Annual Convention of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers held at Gokulam Convention Centre, Kochi on 31st October 2014.
The Young Engineer Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions in engineering research, academics, engineering technology development, or technology transfer, is presented annually, to young researchers below 35 years of age in each engineering discipline. This award is in recognition of Dr. Seena’s research contributions in the area of Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS), Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnology for sensors.

The project was done under the guidance of Dr. Seena V, Assistant Professor, Department of Avionics. The Award Ceremony to be held during the Academy Annual Convention on December 12, 2014 at Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Statue Circle, Jaipur

 

 

Student Travel Award

Abhishek Chakraborty, Ph.D scholar from Avionics Department, IIST, has been selected to receive a student travel grant for attending ACM MobiHoc 2013 to be held in Bangalore, India on July 29, 2013.
The selection includes Student Travel Award of USD1, 400-$450/- to cover expenditure for his travel to attend the symposium.

NASI Award

Seena. V, Member of Faculty, Department of Avionics, had received the Young Scientist Award from Prof. M.G.K Menon at 82nd Annual Session of National Academy of Sciences India at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. The award consisted of Medal, Certificate and Rs. 25,000.

 

 

SSI Young Scientist Award

Dr. Deepak Mishra, Member of Faculty, Department of Avionics, had received the SSI Young Scientist Award(2012) from System Society of India on December 6, 2012.
Dr. Deepak Mishra currently works as Assistant Professor, Department of Avionics, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram.
System Society of India (SSI) is the umbrella body of the systems scientists and engineers all over the country. The Society was founded in 1981 by Prof. P.S. Satsangi at IIT Delhi and has now 19 Chapters all over the country. The Society organizes a National Systems Conference every year.
