The Ph.D programmes are offered in various disciplines like Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Earth System Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Humanities and Social Sciences. The students can join under two categories namely external funded like CSIR, UGC and institute funded. The student undergoes the course work after joining the programme completing with sufficient credits. At the end of second year he/she has to clear the Comprehensive Exam, which enhances the fellowship from Junior research fellow to Senior research fellow. The student then continues with his research work with the chosen supervisor on a topic of interest. The institute offers travel grants to both international and national conferences to present his/her research work. The institute fellowship will be provided for a full five years with the emoluments on par with other government bodies like CSIR, UGC.
