Celebrating Festivals and Days of Importance
At IIST, national days like Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated with pride and reverence, fostering a strong sense of unity and patriotism among the campus community. The institute also embraces the rich cultural diversity of India by celebrating festivals such as Diwali, Holi, Pongal, Navaratri, Onam, and others with enthusiasm and joy.
SPIC MACAY programmes
SPICMACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) programmes are conducted once every semester at IIST, bringing the richness of India’s cultural heritage to the campus. These events feature renowned artists in classical music, dance, theatre, and folk traditions, offering students a unique opportunity to experience the depth and beauty of Indian art forms firsthand. The performances not only provide a refreshing cultural exposure but also foster a deep appreciation for the country’s artistic legacy among the younger generation.
Konchords
Konchords is IIST’s vibrant intra-collegiate cultural evening, held once every semester to celebrate the artistic talents within the campus. It brings together students from all batches for an evening filled with music, dance, drama, poetry, and more. Entirely organized and performed by students, Konchords fosters camaraderie, creativity, and a shared sense of community, making it a much-anticipated highlight of the semester.
ASTRONOMY CLUB
Celestials, the Astronomy Club of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), is a vibrant platform for students united by their curiosity about the universe. The club brings together enthusiasts to explore the cosmos through a blend of academic engagement and hands-on experiences. Regular telescope observation sessions are organized on campus, allowing students to peer into the depths of the night sky, observing planets, star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. These sessions not only inspire wonder but also cultivate practical skills in observational astronomy.
