M.Tech in Control Systems at IIST is a unique two-year interdisciplinary Masters program aimed at providing due weightage to higher academic studies, R&D, as well as Industrial sectors. This well-structured and focused M.Tech programme, in line with ISRO’s missions and visions, gives a comprehensive exposure to the students in a wide area of systems, control, and computing theory and practice. The program offers a host of topics, ranging from fundamental topics like classical control design techniques, advanced topics like nonlinear control theory, optimal control design, adaptive control, robust control, to modern topics such as data-driven control, distributed control and optimization, cyber-physical systems, complex systems, cryptography, etc. Emphasis is put to expose the students to the application of the theoretical subjects in the field of launch vehicles, spacecraft, and robotics. In addition, the theoretical courses are backed with design and implementation projects in embedded systems and control, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), etc. As part of the final year project, the students get an opportunity to work with cutting edge technologies in the field of robotics, spacecraft attitude control, biomedical engineering, UAVs, cyber-physical systems, AI-driven control, etc.
