Prof. Chinmoy Saha, Professor, Department of Avionics, Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, has been honoured with the IEEE Kerala Section Outstanding Researcher Award 2024. The award recognizes his contributions to research and innovation in microwave engineering, antennas, applied electromagnetics and related emerging technologies.
The award was presented as part of the IEEE Kerala Section’s Golden Jubilee celebrations. The ceremony brought together distinguished members of the IEEE community and academic and professional leaders. The recognition highlights Prof. Saha’s sustained contributions to research and his engagement with the wider engineering and scientific community.
Prof. Saha’s research encompasses microwave and antenna engineering, wireless power transfer and microwave energy harvesting, metamaterials and metasurfaces, reconfigurable and multifunctional antennas, microwave circuits, and electromagnetic technologies for space and emerging wireless applications. His research focuses on advanced electromagnetic solutions with relevance to contemporary wireless and space systems.
The recognition adds to Prof. Saha’s professional achievements and highlights the contributions of IIST faculty to advanced research, innovation and technology development in electronics, microwave engineering and space applications.

Prof. Chinmoy Saha has been nominated as the Chair of SIGHT from 1st January 2024 (Special Intersect Group of Humanitarian Technology) committee of IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society. The committee is represented by a total 10 members from various countries and regions. The committee is involved in making policy and approving projects with the global goal of ‘Promotion of Equality and Diversity’.
