The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) is hosting the 5th edition of the “Meteoroids, Meteors, and Meteorites: Messengers from Space” symposium (5th MetMeSS) from 27–28 January 2026. Traditionally organised by the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). The event is being jointly conducted by the Department of Earth and Space Sciences and the Department of Physics, highlighting a significant milestone in strengthening India’s leadership in planetary science and space research. MetMeSS aims to foster collaboration among scientists, researchers, and students working in meteoritics, planetary geology, cosmochemistry, and astrobiology, thereby advancing our understanding of the origin and evolution of the Solar System.
