The Geodesy project, supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), is a strategic initiative centered at the National Centre for Geodesy (NCG), IIT Kanpur. The project operates through a collaborative network of six regional centers: IIST, IITB, MANIT, MNNIT, IIT ISM, and Anna University. Its primary objective is to establish a robust national platform for capacity building, culminating in the development of a unique, indigenous Geoid model. By providing a localized reference framework, the project ensures that all geospatial developments in India are natively referenced and seamlessly integrated into the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF)
