Electronic Voting Machine: How Reliable are They?

More than two lakhs Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were used in 2014 general election. In every general election it increases at least by 5%. It is obvious that not all the EVMs are perfect. It is expected that some proportion is defective. On the other hand it is not possible to test all the EVMs whether they are perfect or not. In this presentation, Dr. Debasis Kundu discussed what is the minimum number of EVMs should be tested to come up with a reasonable conclusion. He used some of the very basic statistical concepts for this purpose.
