Expert Talk on Non- Intrusive Sensing Techniques: Innovations, Impact and Emerging Applications
Prof. Boby George (IIT Madras) delivered an invited talk on non-intrusive sensing technologies with special focus on recent innovations, measurement challenges, and related sensing systems. Various sensing systems, such as intelligent transportation, non-intrusive techniques for water quality and environmental monitoring, and sensor solutions for wireless electric vehicle charging, were discussed during the lecture. Each case study discussed the underlying engineering challenge, the sensing principle employed, key experimental or deployment results, and the potential for real-world adoption. The talk was well-received and proved highly beneficial to faculty members, research scholars, and students of IIST.
Prof. Boby George is Professor of Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras and a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineers (FNAE). He works in the areas of sensor interface electronics, electric and magnetic fieldโ based sensing, and measurement-centric instrumentation systems, with applications spanning industry, healthcare, energy, transportation, and water systems. In addition, he is currently serving as the Program Coordinator for the BS in Electronic Systems and as the Head of the Department of Medical Sciences andTechnology at IIT Madras. His work has resulted in more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in IEEEjournals and transactions, with an emphasis on measurement science and the translation of sensing principles into deployable and reliable instrumentation systems.
