The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology successfully conducted the Annual Sports Day 2026 on 30th Jan 2026 with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation at the Magudagiri Ground. The inaugural ceremony commenced with the arrival and reception of the Chief Guest, Ms. Suresh Sam Chandy, Ironman Triathlete, followed by a spectacular march past by the five student houses—Akashganga, Krithika, Devyani, Saptarishi, and Sharmishtha—symbolizing unity, discipline, and team spirit. The flag hoisting ceremony, performed by the Chief Guest, marked the formal beginning of the Sports Meet. An invocation was held to seek divine blessings for the success of the event, followed by the welcome address by Dean Student Activities Prof Raju K George, and Presidential Address by Pro-VC Prof. Kuruvilla Joseph. The Chief Guest’s inaugural address inspired young athletes to push beyond limits and uphold the values of fair play and perseverance. A solemn oath-taking ceremony reinforced the commitment to loyal competition and true sportsmanship, after which the torch relay—carried by the sports captain Saumya Gaur along with Vice-captain Ms. Poonam, and house captains —symbolized passion, determination, and the enduring spirit of sport. The meeting was then formally declared open, paving the way for an exciting series of athletic events. The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr.J.Sheeba Rani, Chairperson Sport Committee, and the National Anthem, marking the successful inauguration of a day dedicated to athletic excellence and collective spirit. The Annual Sports Day witnessed the successful conduct of all athletic events, with enthusiastic and commendable participation from students across all houses, making the event a grand success.
