Laboratory astrophysics with shock tubes
Prof. Ludovic Biennier, CNRS Senior Researcher and Head of department, Institut de Physique de Rennes, University of Rennes, Rennes, France along with his senior colleague Prof. Robert Georges are visiting AMP lab from 3rd to 8th October.
Prof. Ludovic Biennier is a prominent French physicist specializing in molecular physics and laboratory astrophysics. He serves as a CNRS Senior Researcher (Directeur de Recherche) and is the Head of the Molecular Physics Department at the Institute of Physics of Rennes (IPR), a joint research unit affiliated with the University of Rennes and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). His core scientific expertise include Laboratory Astrophysics & Spectroscopy, Low-Temperature Kinetics & Gas Phase Reactions, Advanced experimental tools like supersonic uniform flows (CPT/CRESU techniques), mass spectrometry, specialized ion sources, and shock-tube setups to study shock-induced molecular evolution in astrophysical context.
