Outreach Programme (Hindi) at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Vithura
As part of the IIST Hindi Fortnight Celebrations 2025, an Outreach Programme in Hindi was organized on October 3, 2025 (Friday) at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Vithura, Thiruvananthapuram from 16.30 hrs to 19.00 hrs. Smt Elizabeth Varughese, Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Vithura delivered the welcome address. Prof. Kuruvilla Joseph, Pro- Vice Chancellor, IIST & Dr. C. S. Narayanamurthy, Dean (IPR & Continuing Education, International Relations), IIST addressed the participants. Smt. Cimy Asaf, Assistant Director (O.L), IIST presented the overview of the outreach programme. Dr. Umesh R. Kadhane, Professor, Department of Physics delivered a Technical Talk in Hindi on the “Search of the origin of life in the Solar System”. The video on IIST was displayed after the talk to inspire students, promote scientific curiosity, and raise awareness about careers in space science and technology. This was followed by the Introduction to planetarium softwares and astronomy simulation session conducted by Shri. Rahul, Project Associate, Science, Communication & Outreach, IIST. The following students of IIST namely Sh. Paramveer Singh, Sh. Karanjot Singh, Sh. Ranveer Singh and Sh.Tanuj Yadav, the second Year, B. Tech students from the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Sh. Basavraj, PhD Scholar from the Dept. of ESS assisted in handling the astronomy simulation session. The program was widely attended by 460 students from classes VI TO XII. Simple scientific concepts in Hindi were explained to the students thereby encouraging more students to pursue careers in STEM Fields.
