The session will discuss recent and emerging online scams and cybersecurity breaches that are increasingly affecting individuals and organizations in today's digital world. It will focus on building awareness around cybercrime reporting mechanisms and official reporting portals, while also highlighting simple yet effective cyber hygiene practices. Through practical examples and everyday scenarios, the session aims to help participants better recognize cyber threats, respond appropriately, and adopt safer online habits, empowering them to stay secure and confident in an increasingly connected cyberspace.

About the Speaker

Dr. Jai Ganesh S is a faculty member in the Department of CSE - Cyber Security at IIIT Kottayam. He is a Certified Ethical Hacker from EC-Council and holds a PhD in Cryptography. He serves as the Faculty In-Charge of the ROOT (Red Team Operations and Offensive Security Tactics) Lab at IIIT Kottayam. With over 12 years of teaching experience, Dr. Jai Ganesh S is actively involved in cybersecurity training initiatives and has contributed to the Indian Cyber Commandos program under I4C, Ministry of Home Affairs. He has trained multiple batches of Kerala Police and the State Special Branch on topics such as web application hacking, threat intelligence platforms, operating system hardening, and the application of AI in offensive security. His academic and professional contributions include 14 research publications, 3 books, and 2 book chapters. His areas of expertise span offensive security, web application penetration testing, multimedia forensics, operating systems, OSINT, and wireless communication.
