As part of the National Space Day 2026 celebrations, IIST organised a Science Outreach Programme at Green Valley International School on 17 August 2026, featuring two sessions. Dr. Dipankar Banerjee, Vice-Chancellor, IIST, interacted with students of Classes VIII–XII, sharing insights into space science, astronomy, scientific research, and innovation. This was followed by a worksheet-based astronomy activity titled “A Journey Towards Our Nearest Star – The Sun,” conducted by PhD scholars from the Astronomy Department of IIST for students of Classes VIII and IX. The programme encouraged students to explore astronomy through observation, analysis, and problem-solving, while fostering scientific curiosity and interest in the space sector.
