Special colloquium on the occasion of International Day of Women and Girls in Science -2026
IIST celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. As part of this occasion, a special colloquium was arranged. Dr. Sudeshna Sinha, FASc, FNA, FTWAS, JC Bose National Fellow, and Professor, Department of Physical Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, India, was invited as the Chief Guest of the programme. She delivered a special colloquium on the topic: “Harnessing Chaos”. She explained how understanding chaos helps in the control of complex systems, which can then be used to create useful patterns and new computing methods. She also discussed how combining non-linearity and noise can improve reliability, with applications from electronic circuits to nano-mechanical oscillators.
