Strengthening Space Ties: ISRO & IIST at Bhutan Space Week
We are thrilled to share highlights from a momentous visit to Bhutan Space Week! A high-level delegation, featuring two representatives from ISRO and two from IIST, joined our neighbors in Bhutan to celebrate and advance the frontiers of space exploration.
Inspiring the Next Generation
The week was headlined by two powerhouse keynote lectures:
* Mr. Ganesh Pillai (Scientific Secretary, ISRO) shared visionary insights into the future of space science and regional cooperation.
* Prof. Kuruvilla Joseph (Distinguished Professor and Pro-Vice Chancellor, IIST) captivated the audience with deep dives into advanced materials and space research.
Building the Future Together : Beyond the lectures, the delegation engaged in high-impact discussions with the faculty and students of the College of Science and Technology (CST), Bhutan. The focus? Turning ideas into reality through:
* Student Satellite Development: Collaborative proposals to design and build satellites, giving students hands-on experience in orbital mechanics and engineering.
* Ground Station Infrastructure: Plans for setting up ground stations for Amateur Radio Frequencies, bridging the communication gap between Earth and space.
This partnership isn't just about technology; itโs about inspiring students across borders to look at the stars and say, "We can reach them."
The programme was attended by H.E.D.N. Dhungyel, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade., Royal Government of Bhutan, Government Secretaries, and Embassy Officials.
