The Vihaan Rocketry Club had its induction program for the incoming students at IIST to acquaint them with the club, the activities it conducts, and the club’s research on rockets and space technology. This session provided a brief understanding of the basic concepts of rocketry and model rocketry along with all the projects and activities being done in the club. The induction also acquainted the students with the possibilities that they have through Vihaan in terms of project work, workshop, competition, and participation in all the club’s technical activities. The induction programme also included practical water rocket launch demonstrations to give students a hands-on understanding of basic rocket design principles. Different configurations of fins and nose cones were demonstrated and tested through launches, allowing the students to observe how these components influence the rocket’s stability, flight behaviour, and overall performance. The activity provided an engaging introduction to the practical aspects of rocket design and complemented the theoretical concepts discussed during the induction.
