Virtual Training Session on DrillBit
The IIST library has organised a "Virtual Training Session on DrillBit" on 10th December 2025 to promote the culture of ethical writing.DrillBit is a cloud-based plagiarism detection software designed primarily for educational institutions and individual users to uphold academic integrity. Developed by DrillBit SoftTech, an Indian startup, the tool compares submitted text against a vast database of over 100 billion web pages, scholarly journals, conference papers, theses, and institutional repositories. It provides users with a detailed similarity report, including a percentage score, colour-coded grades, and identified sources. DrillBit is empanelled with AICTE NEAT 3.0 and the UGC/INFLIBNET ShodhShuddhi Programme. A resource person from DrillBit SoftTech covered the generation and interpretation of similarity reports, excluding sources, bibliography, and quotes, as well as integration with Learning Management Systems, and the detection of AI-generated content.
