24/09/2025

Ms. Amalu Shaji, a Research Scholar at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), has been awarded the Charles Wallace India Trust Short Term Research Grant. She is currently pursuing her research under the guidance of Dr. Gigy J. Alex in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT), established in 1981, supports Indian scholars, artists, and professionals to undertake research, study, or professional development in the UK. The fellowship provides funding for travel, research, and engagement with UK archives, institutions, and cultural networks.

Ms. Amalu’s research project supplements the broader research question of her doctoral thesis on ‘Art Historiography in Kerala: A Cultural Critique of Post- Independence Art Writing’, contributing to scholarship in art historiography, cultural studies, and literary research. This fellowship offers Ms Amalu the opportunity to travel to the UK from 2nd to 22nd October 2025, where she will access key archives including the British Library, and engage with collections Tate Modern, and Tate Britain, to advance her research
