The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) has been granted its 24th patent by the Indian Patent Office. The patent titled “Geosemantic Point Cloud Enrichment (GPCE) for Spatio-Empirical Decision-Making” (Patent No. 581534; Application No. 202441081400) was filed on 25 October 2024 and granted on 24 February 2026. The invention focuses on enhancing spatial data interpretation through geosemantic enrichment of point cloud datasets, enabling improved spatio-empirical analysis and informed decision-making. The inventors of the patent are Dr. Anandakumar M. Ramiya and Ms. Jayati Vijaywargiya. This achievement reflects IIST’s sustained commitment to advanced research and innovation in geospatial data science and intelligent spatial analytics.
