Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) Thiruvananthapuram and University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UAS-D) on 12th November 2025 for sharing expertise and conducting experiments specific to the project ‘Spaceflight induced changes in kidney stone formation in Drosophila melanogaster’ which will carry fruit flies onboard Gaganyaan developmental flight as planned by ISRO. MoU document was signed by Prof. Dipankar Banerjee, Vice Chancellor IIST and Prof. B.D. Biradar, Director of Research, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. Focal points/ coordinators identified from Institute side for further interactions are Dr. K. G. Sreejalekshmi, Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIST and Dr. Ravikumar Hosamani, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.
