Applications are invited for Research Associate / Post-Doctoral position at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology. The fellowship is funded by ANRF through the project titled “Numerical Approximations of Fluid Flow Problems by Hybrid Higher Order Methods.” The Research Associate / Post-Doctoral Fellow (PDF) will work under the guidance of Dr. Sarvesh Kumar, Professor, Department of Mathematics, IIST. Project Title: Numerical Approximations of Fluid Flow Problems by Hybrid Higher Order Methods

Job Description:
The selected candidate will work on the development and analysis of advanced numerical methods for fluid flow problems. The major responsibilities will include:
- Conducting literature surveys on hybrid higher-order numerical methods and related computational techniques.
- Developing mathematical formulations for fluid flow models.
- Assisting in the theoretical analysis of numerical schemes, including stability, consistency, convergence, and error estimation.
- Developing and implementing numerical algorithms using scientific programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++, or Julia.
- Performing numerical simulations and benchmark studies for standard fluid flow problems.
- Preparing technical reports, research articles, conference presentations, and other research outputs arising from the project.
- Participating in research discussions and other project-related activities.
Qualification: PhD in Mathematics/Applied mathematics/Computational Mathematics
Eligibility:
- Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in:
- Research Experience in the Numerical Approximation of partial differential equations.
- Sound knowledge of finite element methods, mixed finite element methods and their variants.
- Evidence of good research publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
- Programming Experience in C/C++, Python, MATLAB
- The upper age limit for the fellowship is 35 years at the time of the submission of application. Age relaxation of 5 (five) years will be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidate.
Fellowship:
- Rs. 58,000/- + HRA per month (after defending thesis and production of completion certificate)
The position is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension from the date of joining, subject to available funding and satisfactory performance.
