The Department of Mathematics, IIST, is organizing a one-day hands-on workshop on Natural Language Processing (NLP) on November 1, 2025. The sessions will be conducted by distinguished IIST alumni, Mr. Aravindh A, and Dr. Asif Salim, currently working in AI & Automation at Litmus7. This workshop is designed to provide participants with practical exposure to core NLP concepts and techniques using real data. The hands-on modules will include text preprocessing, Part-of-Speech tagging, and Named Entity Recognition, supported by demonstrations using pretrained language models. The content will be delivered in a beginner-friendly manner, ensuring accessibility for participants with varied backgrounds. This workshop will enable attendees to gain foundational skills in NLP and understand its relevance in modern applications.
