The Optoelectronics and Photonics Laboratory at the Department of Avionics, IIST focuses on the design, modelling, and characterization of semiconductor-based optoelectronic and photonic devices and systems for the generation, control, and detection of light. Our research spans semiconductor lasers, optical switches and modulators, solar cells, optical logic devices, and optical beam-steering technologies, with applications in optical communication, sensing, and integrated photonics.

The laboratory combines usage of advanced CAD and device-simulation tools with experimental facilities for optical and optoelectronic characterization, including tunable lasers, precision optical positioning systems, photodetectors, and optical spectrum analyzer.
