IIST@Schools is the flagship outreach programme of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), designed to take the excitement of space science and technology beyond the IIST campus and into schools and educational institutions.
The programme provides an opportunity for school students and teachers to interact with IIST faculty, researchers, and students through engaging talks, interactive sessions, demonstrations, and discussions on space science, technology, and related STEM disciplines.
IIST@Schools follows a flexible and need-based format, allowing programmes to be tailored to the interests, academic level, and requirements of the participating institution. Schools and educational organisations interested in hosting an IIST@Schools programme at their institution may contact [email protected] to explore the possibility of organising a programme.
Guidelines for Organising IIST@Schools
To ensure meaningful participation and effective outreach, institutions requesting an IIST@Schools programme are encouraged to follow these guidelines:
- The programme should be organised for a substantial group of students, preferably with a minimum participation of 100 students.
- The organising institution is encouraged to include students from nearby Government/Government-aided schools, wherever feasible, to extend the benefits of the programme to a wider and more diverse student community.
- The programme should preferably be conducted at the requesting institution's campus, with adequate arrangements for the participating students and IIST resource persons.
- The organising institution should provide a suitable venue, basic audio-visual facilities, seating arrangements, and other logistical support required for conducting the programme.
- The school/institution may indicate its preferred topics, student groups/classes, expected number of participants, and proposed dates while submitting the request.
- The programme content will be planned in consultation with the IIST Outreach team, based on the age group, academic level, interests, and requirements of the participating students.
- Requests may be submitted by schools, colleges, educational institutions, or organisations by writing to [email protected].
- The request should be submitted well in advance to facilitate planning, availability of resource persons, and other logistical arrangements.
- Conducting an IIST@Schools programme is subject to the availability of IIST faculty/resource persons and institutional approval.
